One Funky is excited to commence support of a participant in the Walk On Melbourne program. The program is a collaboration between Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) and Victoria University’s School of Sport and Exercise Science and is operating from the University campus situated at Whitten Oval, West Footscray.
Walk On is a revolutionary exercise-based rehabilitation program for people with spinal cord injuries. The therapy aims to promote greater central nervous system activity, improved core strength, muscle mass and movement for injured people as well as assisting their psychological and emotional health. The program involves intense, dynamic, weight-bearing exercises all performed out of the wheelchair one-on-one with a qualified Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist. The gym is fitted with the latest rehabilitation equipment including Total Gym, Powerplate, Evolv Glider, the FES bike and gait training equipment.
One Funky is excited by the opportunity to work with participants in the future and will keep you up-to-date with further developments.
