Pacific Ability Sports Program - Tonga

The Australia South Pacific Sports (ASP) Development Program 2006 funded a 3 day Pacific Ability Sports Workshop, run by Ken Black at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall in October 2004. The workshop was aimed at encouraging participants to initiate sporting activities in their local areas that cater for both people with disabilities and people without disabilities at the same time.

This workshop was a welcome pre runner to the proceeding Tonga v Samoa Athletics Carnival (see below) and was attended by several NATA members.

Netina Latu, TASANOC Disability Sports Development Officer, was chosen from the group of participants to attend the same workshop being held in both Samoa, Fiji and South Africa as an assistant presenter, which further developed her understanding of how inclusive sports can be used in Tonga .
